A few more silver cert's add to the total and home came a new bag of 50.

Were you able trade in all the silver certificates before they stopped redeeming them?

Regarding the collectible value of silver certificates, I'm finding them on e-bay for $2.99: https://www.ebay.com/itm/32187129983....c101113.m2109
Then there is the cost to advertise, mail, and associated risk.

Try sell to your local numismatic dealer -- you'll be lucky to get $2.00. Of course, if mint or a rare date that is another matter, but still dependent on finding a buyer which takes time/cost.

Now, if instead you could have traded in for a silver dollar.....

Depends on the condition. Heavily circulated ones go for 2.99

Good to hear from you Atlas. I am stacking paper -- but only for spending and buying gold -- mint condition stacks of 2's are nice, keep those dirty 1's away from me (along with dollar coins), I'll limit the dirty 1's to those silver certificates I kept as a boy. We should all use cash whenever possible -- sends a strong message we do not want some new digital fed dollar that allows the financial masters even greater control and surveillance. However inflation of fiat is forever, so never should be seen as a replacement for gold, as I'm sure you agree - as you might recall, I never thought the deflation scenario would happen for long given how easy it is to print and the illusion of wealth that they need to keep going....

Its nice to read about people lashing back. Safety deposit boxes are not safe. This is probably old news for Kitco forum members bail ins ect. or too right winged media? I really don't understand the border crisis and where all those people intend to go. if I tried to smuggle myself into a foreign country I could be shot arrested or immigration jail no understand the current administration's agenda allowing migrants except to hollow out what's left of the USA. I read some book by George Friedman called the next 100 years some years ago. I forgot all the details he seemed to cheerlead US hegemony for years out via military maybe even taking on 50T in debt with a Hispanic president by 2070 or so. I got lost reading that book surly there is some truth to it. IDK if it would take our own countrymen in US with the worlds largest militia to give up on corrupt government to defend our borders would be a better way.??

What do you mean? That balded-headed horse's rear end that's in charge of homeland insecurity says the border is secure. The 5K per day, now 10K per day and soon 20k per day don't exist. Secure. Stop trusting your own eyes. Secure.

Or as Joey B's white house suggests won't be a problem if they'd all just stay in Texas. Texas needs to suck it up, I guess. Meanwhile, governor Toothy, up in NY, is calling out the national guard to hand out work permits, voter ID cards (err driver's licenses) and hoping to chase Korean War vet's out of senior housing. Then the dip wad comes out and says she migrants "to go someplace else". I guess "you reap what you sow" doesn't come to mind. As a wise person on Rumble says over and over, it won't change until it gets bad enough. Bad enough is when the bad stuff happens to them and not others. So many vote to F up California and then move someplace else and vote for the same crap and wonder why the new place goes to $hit. Crazy is doing the same thing over and thinking the results will be different. That too seems to be beyond the grasp of those from Rio Linda.

I pray that those in charge take their time at destroying the last great place on earth too quickly. I'm old and so I feel there a good chance I can sit on the sidelines and watch the pig sty grow. I won't be here to see the final mess. Just don't expect me to bail you out. I'm broke, my wealth went down in a bottomless swamp. I really don't want to eat rats and bugs and dig through garbage for some choice morsels. So please do take your time at turning the USA into Venezuela.

I was to trusting in government, and learned a lesson the hard way. No, you can't trust government anymore, as our politicians are allies with the bankers in lying to and swindling so many good citizens.

They should have kept backing such certificates "one dollar in silver", and not forever changed the definition of the dollar, as if we are forever at war so such extreme measures and monetary trickery needs to happen. Now, what will "one dollar" in silver get you? Not even a half dime.

Stacking federal reserve notes was a mistake in the past, today, and forever.
Previous series of the silver certificates bore the words “ONE SILVER DOLLAR ON DEMAND” rather than “ One Dollar in Silver”. Big difference; you can’t do much with a baggie of silver dust.
