Be patient folks, I'm sure thy are working on the software problem this morning. Have another cup of coffee, order a Monster Box, spot is under 30. Or maybe go order some seeds for your veggie garden, spring is right around the corner.
Mods: delete this when things are back to normal.

Who troubleshoots the internet? The problem happens when you try to load a page and there is no response. Part of the page might load and then no response. The page might load after a few minutes or it might not. The site might be Yahoo.com or youtube or some joke site or your favorite forum. I mean it's not just a few sites, and not only little ones. I have been aware of this problem since 2001, but it is very much worse now than ever before. Forum operators have blamed long searches, funky data bases, high traffic, and bad connections. Forum users tend to assume that it's the FBI trying to destroy the forum because the users know the truth, or they blame the operator for using cheap equipment, lousy software, or something about the ISP. Some forums have lost a large fraction of members because of these unfounded assignments of blame. Rarely Firefox will identify a DNS failure.

    Sites that have experienced problems:

    http://thetreeofliberty.com/vb/showthread.php?t=122102
Members try to use both the url and the IP address. Either or both might fail at any time.

    http://www.timebomb2000.com
This site uses the same isp as thetreeofliberty.com, and failures have been a major problem from the start in 2001. The site owner has used the failures to con members into paying for several computer upgrades and three T1 connections!

Another forum where the failures have been discussed a lot. The sysop blamed searches.

    http://goldismoney2.com
    http://gold-silver.us
Two forums where many members have quit because they assumed the owners would not buy good equipment.

    http://thisbluemarble.com
    http://agstackers.com
Failures are less frequent for these forums. No idea why.

http://mail.yahoo.com Mail is the only service I use.
http://weeklyad.staples.com/ Very annoying trying to see the ads!

Various radio stations, but the failure is rare on radio stations.

    Default Message from IT department

I reported the problems and this is the response from the IT department:

Due to the gold price changes, we are currently experiencing a very high traffic to the Forum website.

Under these circumstances, users might see slower than normal responses, and in extreme situations timeouts.

We are monitoring the server hardware resources utilizations closely.

    Thank you very much.

Might help the IT guys, 2 cents worth

Was getting it everywhere last night, not just this site.

internet explorer 32 bit unexpected error on opening then shut down. Switch to inprivate browsing would work fine, speed slightly slower. The 64 bit worked just fine.

Had to reset internet explorer settings for 32 bit.
