Dividend investing is investing in solid, profitable companies.

From a Dividend Investing web site: Dividend.com

    ----dividends come from cash
----cash comes from 1)share issuances 2)debt issuances 3)cash on hand 4)cash flow
    from operations

Only profitable companies can pay steady-or rising- dividends year after year.

Earning are an accounting construct. They are not necessarily real cash
    generated by business.

A share price is less important than its dividend growth.
You are actually paid to own these shares.

Here you have a list of high yield dividend stocks, with many
    yielding more than 10 % a year.

The first two are PBR-Petroleo Brasiliero and EC-EcoPetrol Columbia.
    I posted about them before.

PBR- Petroleo Brasiliero is a huge oil company with great dividends (over 20 %)

It is quite profitable ..and can well afford to pay this huge dividend.

But it is also a very well managed company.

It has joined forces with Norway to prepare for the energy transition, to
    combat global warming:

It is starting drilling along the Amazon river, where there are estimated
    huge reserves of oil:

What is not to like with this one? I did notice that they are partnering with Brazil in some carbon neutral thing to be completed by 2050. It made me realize there could be more to this story than the good side. I don't know either way.

    Old farmer to his son.
    ------------------------

    A cow for her milk,
    A hen for her eggs,
    And a stock, by heck
    For her dividends.

    An orchard for fruit,
    Bees for their honey,
    And stocks, besides,
    For their dividends.
