    Default Dividend Investing

There are stocks with big dividends. The theory that stocks with big
    dividends go down. Not necessarily.

Eg Ecopetrol SA symbol EC-New York Stock Exchange has a dividend
of over 20 % and the price is stable. The company has been in business
since 1948. It is state owned (Columbia) ie it hardly can go bankrupt.

Why the big dividend ? It is state policy. These dividends are meant
to flow to people and companies to encourage the economy.

This web site gives a lot of stocks and ETF's with big
    dividends.

    https://www.dividend.com/high-yield-...tfs-and-funds/

Among them there are a few gems, ie companies with prices doing
fine and keeping the big dividends. Eg NPNYY, a Japanese marine shipping
    company. Dividend over 15 %.

Price is going up. The whole Japanese stock market is up.

You don't like what is posted here and you don't think stocks are an investment, as you stated in one other thread. Seem to be against silver. Also, from one other thread. So what do you think is an investment? At one point I believe is was DOGE coins. Please inform us of your sage advice.

You need to do more DD on this before pushing this state owned corp. They have already stated they will not do any more exploration and most likely will not have a dividend next year. This is a dying company.

"The rumours about the death of this company are highly exaggerated."

    paraphrase after Mark Twain

This company has been in business since 1948. Zacks eg has highly recommended
    it in July 2023.

Read the financial statements..what impressive increase in earnings.

I do not know whether they will do more exploration or not. Read the "profile."
They have so many oil properties that it might be simple not necessary
    to acquire others.

It hardly looks like a "dying company."

Re their dividend policy--usually this type of companies offer a dividend
as a percentage of their cash flows. A similar company PBR Petrobras
has recently announced a cut of dividend from 60 % to 40 % of their cash flow.
However PBR compensated this cut by share buyback.

Add to this the recent trend upwards in oil price.

Here you have some fundamental analysis of Ecopetrol-EC NYSE ADR.

    https://www.chartmill.com/stock/quot...ental-analysis

It has its question marks ....but it is a solid company, in business since 1948,
state owned and with a good dividend. I think the dividend varies as a % of
the cashflow so it is not always increasing.
