Removing coins from gov issued plastic

I have government issued gold and silver in plastic sealed pouches. For example 1/10 ounce gold maple or a one ounce silver maple. How long before the plastic affects coin surface? Is it better to just remove the coin and place it in an air-tite. I have seen the us mint proof sets that come in the envelopes from the sixties go bad but those have a different type of plastic. One reasoning for not removing the coin is perceived increase in value when selling,.

Up to you. Todays wraps are PVC free as technology has even advanced to the mints due to numerous complaints of the past....

I would leave them inside the pouches. I had silver maples inside original RCMint packaging for 15 years and nothing happened to them.

I don't buy or own much in the way of collector coins that are packaged by the mints because I buy bullion. I store my 1 oz silver bars in "tubes" after removing them from the plastic. Much easier to store that way. Gov't coins and private mint rounds come in tubes and so I try to keep everything compact and neat.
