Independence day stems from the Colonists seeking freedom from the taxation without representation and no religious freedom happening to them as ordained by the King of England. And the ensueing ratification of the Declaration of Independence from England. The Colonists revolted so they could be INDEPENDENT and worship as they dam well pleased. Think about that historic detail and review your life span and the changes you have seen and then where we are right now today.....kind of like pete and repeat sittn on the fence when pete fell off who was left.....ad nauseum. So yeah, I am not enamoured with this holiday as we have managed to bastardize it.....that said we are better off than a lot of other people in sundry quagmires here and there.
