Chinese Coin Forum website disappeared...any guesses?

The Chinese Coin Forum seems to have disappeared from it's web address; Google finds nothing as if it changed domains. Like it evaporated from the internet all together. Any back info or ideas. I find it interesting that this should occur simultaneously as official grey sheet values for rare dates (i.e. 90's to early 2000's) have EXPLODED.

My LCS is a member of the PNG and source of my original core Master Set so they aren't price gauging by any means. I see similar asking prices on certified at APMEX.

Been busy (but now 4 months off) but March 2002 was my last issue of Peter Anthony's China Pricepedia...

why is the 1995 1/2 oz gold panda worth so much? mintage only second lowest at 11,750
the 1998 1/2 oz gold panda only worth ~ $5k with lowest mintage of 4,175

I think my last Panda update was in 2019 from Peter A.

I think they lost a lot of collectors when they changed the coin weights back in 2016 and has been heading down hill since then. I still have a boat load of the older Pandas.

I didn't post 1998. I posted 2002 for about ~5K Asking $4,700 for factory plastic sealed 2002. https://www.goldeneaglecoin.com/item...alf-ounce-2002 The website doesn't have a 1998 available in the store.

I FINALLY got my 1/2 oz set "binderized" this year with the factory-plastic holders into Lighthouse Encap pages (2 pages of 20 coin spots). With asst 1 oz gold panda bullion dates (2 pages) and asst Maples and Eagles I've finally filled this (5 pages of 20 coins) binder and started a second binder. Discussion last year with distinguished and famous China Panda Guide author Peter Anthony on the now-defunct China Coin Forum resulted in the decision for the set to remain in factory-sealed vs certification. Advances in 3-rd party grader coin conservation techniques can remove the FEW copper spots (I've been lucky compared to many others).

Hope things are well with you, plan to be about a bit more these days, considering sending my pair of 1988 Cincinnati ANA expo pandas to NGC for their 'cleaning' service, they have reacted to the plastic sleeves.

Yes, some of the plastic reacted and discolored/tarnished the coins. Been awhile since I've last check mine.

NGC would be the way to go. The older Pandas are still valuable, but when they went metric and went to 30 gram sizes and really increased the mintage, they simply follow bullion prices now. The older ones will still be worth collecting.
I hope someone from the old site starts a new forum on these coins. Good to see you back.
