Incredibly nice acquisitions, Miteysquirrel! Chock full of mythological/ historical significance with the goddesses Athena, Nike and Venus and the strike and surface qualities are just beautiful. Julius Caesar III and Alexander to boot. I especially love the Macedonian stater- wow!

just digged a up from my stash, it is a coin set in a ring, it reads imp(erator) M(arcus) jul(ius) Philippus aug(ustus

The face and text very well preserved . I can hardly see the reverse side because the coin has been inserted in the ring, but is shows a person directed to the left, sitting on a shield ( ?) , holding to the right a spear, and in front of it probably a small statue.there is a text on the side, but it is in the shadow and i cannot read it.

I bought that ring/coin some 40 years ago on a fleemarket in France, never used that bring has french silver marks on the ring. weighs all in all 19.93 grams = approw half Toz. .

ps found in Numista the coin, it is a Antoninianus Philippus I and schecking the visible parts of the reverse the lvisible letters correspond with romae aeternae., so that is probably mu most ancient coin. 244 - 249 AD I have somewhere other roman coins, but think they are from laterstage, Have to " dig " them up one day.

Pretty cool Goldi. A lot of these old coins end up as jewelry. I inherited 2 necklaces and a bracelet made from really old threepence and sixpence silver coinage. Not as old as your ring or Mitey's ancients.

Almost all my ancients are graded...im negotiating to buy the double Daric right now...we are around 11-12k

The one coin says Au but looks like Ag... Do you have an explanation?
