There are so many nuances, so many variations and varieties to ancients. Kings, queens, rulers, rarity sometimes based on how long they were in power, etc..
And the truth is even though I've been collecting a long time, I wouldn't be able to tell if that Alexander is from 320 BC or my neighbor just made it yesterday in his garage. I can tell more "modern" coin fakes- you know, from the 1700's and up. Their authenticity is something I'm able to discern (or not).
I'm probably just not awake yet (coffee is almost finished brewing, thank God), but were you saying that it's 14K, as in $14,000? or 14K, as in its probable gold purity? I know you're much more studied in ancients than I am, but in this case, I'd follow Digbird's advice and definitely wait until it's been slabbed by either one of the top 2 TPG services. Probably NGC as I've heard they do a really good job with ancients. Either way, it's a gorgeous coin...
