if you are into ancient coin.

for me, if the premium is not too ridiculous, i would go it.
would prefer it to be in slab for easier authentication when time to resell it

The premium is subjective, these coins appreciate at unknowable amounts, but they are very rare so its not a huge gamble.

Nice coin Squirrel but would like to see it authenticated. You never mentioned the price?

But if you like it, then buy it after you get the results. I admire these types of coins, and what you have shared with us, but I lack the expertise in this field of ancients.

Unless it has been refrigerated, after all this time, it is likely spoiled.

JK.... I think old coins are really cool, but I wonder how numi value will hold up. Kids today don't care about collecting anything. Pretty much everything I thought was really cool and colected, kids these days could give a schitt about.

Mitey, it's definitely an attractive coin, for sure- even though ancients aren't in my wheelhouse. It's enough for me trying to master the ones I do collect- mostly US Type coins. There are so many nuances, so many variations and varieties to ancients. Kings, queens, rulers, rarity sometimes based on how long they were in power, etc..

And the truth is even though I've been collecting a long time, I wouldn't be able to tell if that Alexander is from 320 BC or my neighbor just made it yesterday in his garage. I can tell more "modern" coin fakes- you know, from the 1700's and up. Their authenticity is something I'm able to discern (or not).

I'm probably just not awake yet (coffee is almost finished brewing, thank God), but were you saying that it's 14K, as in $14,000? or 14K, as in its probable gold purity? I know you're much more studied in ancients than I am, but in this case, I'd follow Digbird's advice and definitely wait until it's been slabbed by either one of the top 2 TPG services. Probably NGC as I've heard they do a really good job with ancients. Either way, it's a gorgeous coin...
