again....yesterday -600....today up 900... is there an 'earnings report' out?

No but there was a material CPI report that came out. The moves are dramatic, but each time you raise these points its on days where the market is clearly moving on newly released hard data. Not trying to troll you, just trying to point you in the right direction...

Market had been rallying a bit early in the week on expected midterm results given the market tends to like dividend governments, but then the red wave never materialized so the gains reversed and sold off yesterday. That in combination with a CPI release today gave people few reasons to want to be long ahead of a key CPI release. CPI came in cooler than expectations, which suggests rates are at the levels they need to be to change the trajectory of inflation. This morning's lower than expected CPI print caused market expectations for the December rate hike to fall below 50bps last I checked this AM. Renewed talk of a soft landing as we've now got virtually all key categories except rent falling, and rent is a known laggard. This prompted a big decline in 2 year yields which naturally will benefit stocks. It's all connected and all impacting the market's expectations for asset prices going forward.

Yes, dramatic...I know what dramatic looks like.

And never in history are the moves this big on a daily basis, thanks for trying make it seem like just another day.
