Thread: The Recession..

    US Constitution Section. 8.

    "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States"

Doesn't say anything about the president can override congress.

    So then:

    14th Amendment Section 4:

"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void."

    Section 5

"The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article."

Again, that doesn't say that a rotting bag of oakmeal can override either law or congress.

But perhaps if we have end our republic (note: not a democracy) and now have a dictatorship then all bets are off. But then again that might mean it's time break out the lead folks........

I don't see how since the the 5th section of the 14th reads:

    Section 5

"The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article."

I don't see where is says a jackass in the White House can do that. I don't see any wiggle room in that above statement of law. What the law allows is to stop spending not spent and use any money in the treasury to pay outstanding debts and the rest of the government agencies have to suck hind teat. Again, that is unless we're no longer a republic and are in fact now run by edicts from the White House. The only kicker is that it takes both chambers of congress to legislate and Chucky Cheese is not going to pass any bill. That way the willing press will say it was the replub's fault. But the house has passed a bill (the only bill) that raises the debt limit and only needs Chucky and the bag of oatmeal to turn it into law. Which they won't.

Surely Silverone, you and Casey are not doubting the sincerity and effectiveness of something that is called the Fiscal Responsibility Act.

That would be like being patriotic and being doubting the sincerity of something called the Patriot Act.

You've hit it on the mark. That silverone is perhaps one of the ringleaders of trouble makers hear. Have to keep a sharp eye on that one.

Saying the US will become quite repressive, Casey states "Iíll bet you money on this. In fact, I am betting money on it." Anyone know what venue he is using to "bet money on it"?

Perhaps it's laid out in the .pdf and maybe in info available if ones subscribes to "The International Man". On that note, has anyone here done so? If so, what has your experience been with it?

It seems to me that this trend can no longer be reversed. The US governmentís budget is, in fact, the biggest thing in the world. It wonít be turned around, because it is like a gigantic snowball rolling down a hill. It will only stop when it smashes into the village at the bottom of the valley.

Remember Barry said it was unpatriotic
