went to a show in Gettysburg last weekend and again could not believe prices. Good to Fine flying eagle pennies priced at $120-200. 2021 and 2022 silver eagles for $50! 1921 morgans good-fine $45-50. At these prices I may just have a few 100 of each for sale. Is this what most of you are seeing or is this just wishful thinking by the dealers?

My dealer tells me that no one is selling and he has very few buyers. When spot was high he said it was
like everyone was buying and selling.

The last few posts are why I recently advised anyone who has "stuff" they're possibly interested in trading/selling (for upgraded PM's or for more dry powder), to go to a decent sized coin show. As long as you know what you're doing, you can take advantage of the long-term bull markets in stacking and coin collecting. It can definitely work to your advantage. Not many people are selling, and the dealers are starved for more product, so they're generally paying up. Even the less desirable forms (40% halves, more-worn-than-usual/cull Constitutional 90%, etc.) are getting better prices towards your trades, so obviously DYODD and shop around to do what's good for you.

Went to show in Albany NY...Polish community center....Sold mercs @ 28% over...sold generic bu ag 1 oz bars @ 13% over...bought buffalo gold for 6% over.
Next show June 5th.

When you are at a coin show selling your stuff you still need to shop around for the best price for your stuff. Just because the first dealer wanted to screw you doesn't mean you have to sell to them. Move on to the next dealer and start over. Just don't burn your bridges with the first dealer. Also, you can also reply to a low ball offer with a higher offer that you think is correct. Wait and see how they react. If no deal, be respectful. Be honest and tell them that you're thinking about his offer(s) and that you might be back later. You never know when that dealer might change their price, have a hot buyer lined up, and needs your stuff at any price and is now willing to deal on better terms. Remember that at no time is anyone holding a gun to your head and you don't have to take an offer. Americans have been trained to take any deal and not negotiate. Stores have a firm price. But they don't. Find a tool in a busted box, or only the floor display is left and you can make an offer and get a discount. You just have to ask. Something that most people won't do. Car dealers count on that! Remember you are in charge and it is up to you to get what's best for you. If you don't get some "no way, can't do that" replies then you are leaving money on the table. Just don't insult the dealer with a crazy offer that you know is impossible. I search online for what those dealers are offering and figure I might get 10 or 15% more if I work real hard. Twenty dealers, twenty offers. One might be more than you expected. Sometimes you get lucky and get a lot more and sometimes you go home with what you brought.

While $27 seems to be the going price online for a generic 1oz, every shop I have been to in MD and PA is asking $35 and seems fine not selling and no interest in negotiating. I went to a few flea markets with coin dealers and the range was $35-38. There is a show this weekend at Timonium fair grounds and a few dealers claim to have thousands of ounces to sell at spot! Sounds like a gimmick but I will not be able to make it so I hope someone here can grab a few.
