I was reading that due to the high cost of fertilizer Illinois farmers are forgoing corn in the usual planting ratio and are going to 50/50 corn/soybeans. This will put the hurt to the ethanol producers and hit the gas price again!

it takes alot more energy to make biofuel than drill baby drill.

They probably have no idea what they market will do this year and are hoping to average the year out somehow, and make it without going bust. Fertilizing soybean can cost up to a third less than corn. Soybean easier to grow sometimes too.

A lot of corn farmers make the decision in the fall with their fertilizer and especially the limestone if going from beans to corn. Beans lower the soil pH as they fix nitrogen in the soil. But the pH is too low for the corn to use it effectively.

Mexico to stop importing GMO corn. It would be quite the blow to US corn farmers and Monsanto.

Mexico is considering direct agreements with farmers in the United States, Argentina and Brazil to secure non-genetically modified yellow corn imports, the country's deputy agriculture minister said, adding that a 2024 ban on GM corn would not be amended.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Victor Suarez told Reuters Mexico is on track to halve its U.S. imports of yellow corn, used primarily for livestock feed, when the ban comes into effect in 2024 via increased domestic production.

Big push for E15 gas? There already is somewhat.

U88 is E15 and showing up here in Illinois now.

And Mexico decided to ban GMO white corn that is used in the tortillas, not yellow corn used for animal feed.
