    Default Bacon is on FIRE

Wished I would have bought options on the current price of pork bellies.....seeing bacon north of $18 bux and that was not a large package.
    (not a huge bacon consumer)

Thomas Jefferson is credited with writing, “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” The seceding states in the Civil War period issued a similar declaration using the word “tyranny” as opposed to “injustice.”

Trichinosis was the issue back then. Since it was difficult to fully cook meat thoroughly back then, the parasite often got ingested .

The Jewish leadership back then decided to issue a "religious" edict rather than a health advisory, as they knew that would be a lot more followed.

I don't think God would have called it abhorrent for nothing. God made food for us to eat. He also made bottom dwellers to clean the seas (catfish, clams, oyster, lobster, crabs). These are not food. Just like Camels, pigs, dogs and cats are not food. Camels are great to ride, not food. Dogs are a man's best friend, not food.

Rabbits, not food. They eat their own feces.

Pigs, not food. Has nothing to do with trichinosis...unless you don't believe what God made as food. The sheet of animals that Peter saw has nothing to do with God now saying that everything is food. It has to do with bringing the Gospel to non-jews. Chicken has the same issue as pigs. Still Chicken is food, pigs are NOT.

    Bats, not food.
    Guinea Pigs, not food.
    White tailed deer, food.
    Cattle, food.
    Ants, not food.
    Slugs, not food.
    Chicken, food.
    Vultures, not food.
    Tuna, food.
    Eagles, not food.
    Bass, food.

    And so on.

I am reading the Bible now for the first time. It is a tough read, but I am determined to read I cover to cover. I was surprised the animals not sanctioned to eat by God. The "anything with paws" surprised me.
Now there's no more oak oppression
    They passed a noble law
Now the trees are all kept equal
    By hatchet, axe and saw.

    I will not comply.

and leave you the hell alone!

They are for other purposes. If you do an indepth study, you will find that the "food" animals were made for for a specific reason. And that reason could not have been known 5000 years ago. Really, you either follow the creator, or you make it up for yourself. Why he does what he does will never be fully known until we are in his presence.

As a Christian, growing up in a missionary family overseas, and also studying original direct transalations of the greek and hebrew texts of the old and new Teataments(prep for many hours of "discussions" with Jehova Witnesses). Literal translations, coupled with cultural bias.

God is a loving, and fair God. So to follow the Hebrew dogma, issued by God directly to the Hebrews, to ensure their wellbeing.

If the old testament is to be applied globally, then ALL pacific islanders, with no historical access to cloven footed livestock.....sorry, they must starve to be "pure"? Good nutritious proteins, arbitrarily forbidden for global populations, all can be traced back to problems with sanitation due to lack of preservation and refrigeration.

Made moot by modern society finally understanding bacteria, and antimicrobial, and antiparasitic food prep practices.

Just ask yourselves why Kosher food rules forbid certain things (ie: try to find out the reason why eating Cheese with cooked beef at the same time is forbidden, but eat a steak, wait an hour, and then eat cheese is ok..... Hmmm.... They all end up mixed together in your digeative system. Once again, in an unrefrigerated historical past, cross contamination with bacterial growth likely was leading factor in the creation of Kosher food prep practices.

As a believer myself, growing up as a MK, serving as a tentmaker missionary in Japan in the 80's and 90's while working with Taisei and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, and naval ship systems development, GM Asia powergen systems, and seeing a whole country there eat almost exclusively Non kosher, the God I know would not apply Jewish Kosher restrictions on societies that are not Jewish, and have societally developed ways to eat healthy(ie: wasabe actually kills parasites in raw fish). Notice how the New Testament, direct words of Christ, and the revelations to the Apostles, written down, have no proscriptions on what they ate. Greeks, Romans diets were heavy non Kosher. Apostle Paul partook freely of these diets. Interesting, no?

Each culture has its own food restrictions, many developed due to religious reasons, some due to learned behaviors. My deceased brother-in-law used to say: "if you won't eat a rat, then you aren't hungry enough". I hope we never get to the point that we are eating bugs, rats and earthworms! When stationed in S.E. Asia, during the Vietnam War, we ate mystery meat a few times being sold by street vendors, could have been monkey, cat, dog or GOK's. Don't ask, don't tell. But back in the land of the big PX, steamed clams, deep fired clam strips, lobster, king crab legs are all good eats. Seafood in general is at the top of my list. A long standing tradition (only for people from roots in Eastern PA?) is to have pork and sauerkraut for new years. Looking forward to it. A BLT sandwich is about as good as it gets too. A car bumper wrapped with bacon would most likely taste good too. So if I burn in hell I guess my eating habits will just add to my otherwise long intense pain and suffering in hell. All I can hope for is spending some time in Fiddler's Green before that.
