I was selling silver to buy gold. Now I am holding again. I bought a little silver mining stock recently. I may buy a little more if the price drops further. I am not going into that heavily as the entire market seems high & Fed tapering may be coming.

I am waiting to see which way the silver price goes from here before deciding if I will buy or sell more. When silver was at $14, I bought with a strong feeling that the upside potential outweighed the downside possibility by a wide margin. At that time, I bought all that I could afford. At this time, I do not have a strong sense of which way it will go. Money printing says that it should continue upward (compared to cash). Historical trends show that the two times it ran up around $50, it then backed off slowly & substantially for a long time. We did not hit $50 this time, but we hit around $28 a few times & the latest downtrend in silver is now about 3 months running, to the tune of about $6 out of what was $28ish at the highs. That is too much to ignore. the 1 year chart looks bearish to me. Winter may be coming for my beloved shiny metal. Or, this may be a last minute buying opportunity. My crystal ball is a bit fuzzy at this time.

The previously high gold/silver ratios where the main reason why I bought silver in the past. When the ratio is low, I seek to convert.

He makes the point that the rising Gold Silver Ratio indicates that silver is the bargain buy at this time. I recently ran some numbers. The spot GSR is around 78, but the retail price number for American Eagles is more like 59. When you buy physical, premiums matter.
