Just to clarify "The rising popularity of electric vehicles could trim demand. Catalytic converters—exhaust-system devices used to control pollution in conventional vehicles—are the main use for the metals: palladium for gas-powered cars and platinum for diesels.
A lot of folks are going to be very surprised how strong this metal is and how high it goes. Platinum's future is looking very bright. The sky is the limit with this one. Literally!
In china giant scrubber air purifiers are being built, which are 250 feet tall. Im not savvy enough with technology, but platinum will probably have some role in these devices in the next 20 years? Chinas auto sales are going to be 25 million this year. If it plateaus or even grows 5-10% each year that over 300-350 million sales by 2030. They government is requiring higher amount's of pgm's in their cat converters as well. There was a seeking alpha article where the author saw platinum going to 2400$ in the next 18 months, mainly based on substitution for basf's new tric metal catalyst.
Hey Nikko, https://www.reuters.com/article/us-p...-idUSKBN2AG1GF. Few more years to accumulate...look at the 2023 charts. No new investment in big mines cause of the health crisis. Mines are getting older, less profitable. Substitution, and less supply by 2022. Needed for combining in iridium(iridium has gone to 5k) for pem electrolyzers. Still only in 1100s, very happy it didn't run to 1550 last month.
Platinum demand growing.
Year 2020 platinum deficit record 932,000 oz.

"For 2021 the WPIC expects investment demand to grow by another 756 ounces. Raymond noted that although investment demand is expected to be down from 2020's historic levels, growth is above the five-year average."
Although the article somewhat contradicts itself. It is fairly solid and hints about the future of Pt. I can see the cat peeking out of the bag...
I am not letting it out because I want to accumulate.![]()
