Thread: Price of Platinum is exploding:

    Default

Have not come across any "strike notice", but I guess it was just leading the other PM's yesterday. Also came across explanations from chartistas, who love to explain after the fact.

I've been doing some ratio trading with my digital gold, silver, platinum. It makes a lot more sense to me then currency trading, given ALL currency, which is now all fiat, is going down over time, while PM's hold more steady, thus the old maxim "you could by a tailor made suit with and ounce of gold both today, and 100 years ago". Trading between sinking ships seems to be a loosing play in comparison, so easy to get wet if you're not carefull!

So nobody really knows what causes the big boys to jump in and out of the PM market day by day, or what may be taking hold of "animal spirits". All is good, just know some basic math, ignore the chit chat, and you can do well.

    Default Platinum to gold ratio

Yes the platinum ratio is quite low now. I guess I am looking at the mine life for the biggest 10 mines and most are less than 15 years to shutdown. I can't say but gold seems to have many more economical mines. Platinum is also closer to production costs than gold or even Silver for that matter. Palladium demand is keeping the platinum mines open. So, platinum supplies will shrink in the next 10 years. So enjoy the cheap platinum.

Platinum equities tumble with the general market and also the get a pulse down when speculators switch horses to another speculative play. SA miner prices also get whacked harder by a strengthening dollar.
