well yesterday set 2 arrived. i still have not unpacked them nor any of the past dozen orders of eagles from the mint in case i do send them off to ngc for grading.

very limited mintage on these 2 coin reverse proof sets, and some even have the directors signature on them. would you open them to see if you got one with the signature and give up the "early release" grading option? or trust the ngc employees to be honest and not pull any switcheroo?

Default well here comes another coin from the USMint

What do you think about getting the new 2023 USMint Morgan and Peace dollars or the Reverse Proof Set? All opinions considered. Thanks. By the way, this is one of the coin types (2021 Morgans and Peace - limited mintage) that actually was profitable on the secondary market and at coin shows for me.

No opinion on these Max. But was wondering if you sent the 2021's to NGC and if so how did they score? Cheers.

I did not. I found a dealer that gave me a little more than i paid at the mint and offloaded 36 proofs with case and coa all at once and bought 90% silver at $1 over spot with all the cash. I was watching that they were selling on ebay for less than the original price from the mint so just dumped 80% of the specialty coins.
i wont be buying proof ase's from the mint again. occasionally the seemingly rarer items may get my attention

Yes, buying from the MINT is a gamble alright. Few winners and lots of losers.

I often wonder if there is someone that compares which coins wins to all those that lose over the span of one year? In other words, if you bought 1 single coin on every offering, how would a guy do financially after 1 year.

If one wants to be sure to buy a patented loss, buy from the finnish mint...

last month i got one each of the Uncirculate Morgan and Peace dollars through subscription. they came very fast and are still in the sealed shiping boxes.

i also have subscription orders for the Proof Morgan and Peace dollars being released in about a week.

does anyone else like these or order these? the original 2021 anniversary first year issued were and still are a home run.

I would like other opinions about these and also the Fall release of the 2-coin reverse proof set.

Max, it is really hard to predict what will be a homerun these days. Usually one-offs and 1st. issues succeed, the rest is break even at best. In a series, then when for some reason the mintage numbers drop dramatically like the 1/2 oz. gold eagles which become key dates and it reflects in super high prices.

In my past practices, if I wasn't sure, I'd order 3 pieces and try and sell 2 to lower the cost of the one I wanted to keep. Even that can be tricky. Like placing a bet on the roulette wheel for red 7's to come up. Yup, a gamble.

thanks, great advice i think about getting 3, selling 2 for a lower keeper price. i may just get one of each though and tuck them away. i wont be getting 10 of each like what i have done in the past with certain coins. just too much hassle to sell and ebay fees are prohibitive.

    thanks again for the reply
