Random Platinum coins came is at $70 over spot, I think a good deal upon receiving only beautiful 2021 Britannias. No need to pay $100+ premiums for plat!

No local sources near me and when I look for plat. online the premiums are $100+ which is crazy for a ~$950/ounce POPt. "More worser" than the prem's on Au at $1,800. Heck, finding a deal would be far easier just to buy some used sawzall removed catalytic converters from the back of some guy's pickup truck.

Yes, today platinum premiums are pretty high everywhere I look, however I just wait for the deals, and they do come throughout the year -- most platinum bullion I've purchased over the last year have been in the +50 to +$80 range, and includes Koalas, Brittanias, and Valcambi bars. You can go here to compare for the best deals: https://findbullionprices.com/closes...egory=platinum Also found that the random plat coins of SD Bullion are often very good, how I've obtained Britannias and Koalas for low premium (one advantage of random platinum coins vs random gold coins is not as many places mint platinum, so less likely you'll get weird things like Ronald Reagan Cook Islands).

One just needs to keep an eye out to get better deals, which is one reason I liked visiting this forum group, however most members once into plat have disappeared, wonder where they have gone, digital or to other PM sites?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to use the site to look for good deals. I was finding deals on eBay in 2020 since a few PM dealers were selling for less than on their own sites, but then the dipwad's running eBay decided to add tax to all orders. NY state doesn't make it easy to recover sales tax paid that shouldn't have been charged in the first place. So I stopped buying on eBay.

It's 90+ minutes at "highway +"speeds to get to the closest coin show. Plus that's not including winter conditions. Then there's the problem of carrying large amounts of cash going to coin shows which can get you robbed and/or having the police seizing it since carrying cash these days is proof that you are a drug dealer. Try getting it back without a lawyer and lots of expenses.

LongDonSilver, and thanks about the E-bay notice, I did not know they put a tax on all bullion purchases, it must have put a big damper on their business. I would think there must be other sites that will take their place with the general public for trading bullion and coins? With some of my bullion, there is numismatic value, some semi, some considerable, and for them at least it's better to sell directly to the collector vs many dealers who pay only near spot price, even for coins with greater value. I was thinking ebay was the way to go, but if they tax it, well I'll find other venues when it comes time to sell.

It's to bad your now need to fear police regarding large amounts of cash. I've seen the cases of police who engage in forfeiture of cash with the excuse "it's evidence of drug dealing" -- thankfully not all police are of that mind, as I rather consider such forfeitures "evidence of a cop being part of a criminal enterprise", and would treat them as such (through appropriate legal channels when possible). There is no excuse for such acts of theft, I consider every individual responsible for their conduct -- being part of organized crime is no excuse. I support disbanding any police department that engages in such criminal behavior, and the dismissing of judges and anyone else who thinks cash = crime.

Also, how slow can they be to realize it's digital currency that is getting adopted by criminal organizations now (actually for some time when you look at the larger picture)?

Buying platinum, gold, and silver with cash is about the most honest thing you can do, I consider most digital currency and the financial world rather dirty and full of fraud and trickery in comparison.

Latest Score, my first from Gibraltar, at +$100, a little steep for me but a nice coin unique to me, so worth extra:

More of the above 2022 1 oz Platinum Gibraltar Castle Coin

however now finding at $80 over spots as a "random" plat bullion coin. Can't say no when I find even lower premiums on a coin I find quite attractive (and spent higher premium on).

And I'm using PPLT I purchased when spot was under $600, nice to know what I really spent on this, someone is paying for my deals, who can that be? (All in all you can reason I'm getting real physical for $400 under spot, again, who are the suckers paying for that, I've been getting away with this for years....)
