    you could have just doubled your face value selling in 10 pound lots on ebay. there would have been more time involved of course. if there were wheat cents in those 100,000 cents there was much much more that you left on the table. sometimes, however, i understand that your time is much more valuable though and therein lies the problem with copper pennies until the USA stops minting them.

    That photo of the garbage bins is many years old now, and I thought it was said that the guy with this collection was only collecting wheats.

    Wheats were separate, LCS will take them for .02 face. Copper is a very plentiful thing. I avoid ebay, but first I've heard that 59-82 brass pennies were going for double face or higher price than melt.
