Default Why are Palladium and Platinum reaching parity?

I remember Platinum being around 2,000 and ounce at one point. I think that ,even then , Palladium was in the 600-800 range. What gives?

I've been told it's because diesel engines, which primarily use platinum catalyst, is down -- while industrial use of Palladium is up.

Palladium surpassed the price of Platinum today for the first time since like 2000...

At least this time it's "normal market forces" and not bankster manipulation. Then again, maybe the banksters decided to "diversify" their paper fraud into heretofore unexplored territory.

Default There has been a precedent...

"Is a 'Palladium - Platinum price inversion' in the cards?"

I've read on the 'Mining Corner' blog few months ago. It details the early 21st century precedent of the palladium price overtaking that of platinum.

With natural gas a cleaner alternative fuel for cars, I'm wondering where the market for converters goes to.

Only seen one piece of jewelry that was palladium in all my days of scrap hunting CL, pawn shops and garage sales. I think platinum jewelry will grow huge very soon eso with price tag lower then gold and Pd.

You don't see palladium jewelry for a reason, it's hard to work with. From casting, cleaning the casting with files, setting stones, and final polishing it's a total pain to work with. Palladium is primarily used in jewelry as an alloy when mixing gold to make 14k and 18k.

My dealer also sells gold and pt shot for Jewelers and he says he sells 60 ounces of gold for every ounce of platinum he sells. Gold is still King in fine jewelry.

Default Palladium almost twice the price of Platinum

By mid October it looked as if Palladium was rallying to twice the price of Platinum, with the price ratio hitting 1.974. Less than 2% to go ... Eventually it didn't.
Amidst all adversity, Platinum rallied $40 from its low (with Pd essentially flat) driving the Pd:Pt ratio down to 1.894: not out of the danger zone yet.
