Technology is a job eater.
I saw that quote months ago, not sure who said it, but has stuck with me as being fairly accurate.

Outsourcing giant Capita is to sack 2,000 staff and replace them with robots in a move some fear will be repeated across the economy, leading to more than 1 million job losses.
The FTSE 100-listed firm, which collects the BBC license fee and provides services for the NHS, said it needed to ax 2,000 jobs to save money due to poor trading with corporate clients.
It said it would use the money it saved to fund investment into robotic workers across the whole company, according to the Guardian.

Robots could put more than 1mn Brits out of work by 2030 – study
The announcement will add to fears the world is a facing fourth industrial revolution powered by artificial intelligence (AI) which will result in unprecedented job losses.
A study published by Oxford University and consultancy firm Deloitte in October predicted there is a 77 percent probability Britain will lose 1.3 million “repetitive and predictable” administrative and operative jobs within 15 years.
More than 850,000 public sector jobs – including teachers, social workers and even police officers – could also be replaced by computer programs.
MPs warned in October the government is unprepared for the coming technological revolution.

I will fully applaud the day they get all taxpeople on the dole.
Ps it was to expect AI will sack millions of jobs, 35 years ago a big sawmill employed 400 persons, now hardly 40 for twice the volume produced.
The problem is overpopulation.
A hundred years ago countries ( except for some ) had only one tenth of their actual population.
On the one end we have overpopulation, on the other less jobs.
The solution is more Gays and Lesbians, and avoid immigration....

The first segment of this podcast talks about the Amazon store and what he believes we can expect from industry in the future. In the last segment, Jack discusses UBI (Universal Basic Income) and why that is likely to be instituted and how it could work or work against us. He believes that with the loss of employment due to automation, it will be in the governments interst to pay everyone a basic income and do away with welfare and food stamps and SSI et al.
There are several other things he discusses, some more interesting to me than others, but he has held my interest for years with his shows. If you like to listen to talk shows, you may want to give his show a listen.

Now there's no more oak oppression
They passed a noble law
Now the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw.
I will not comply.
The Tea Party... quietly plotting to take over the world,
and leave you the hell alone!
Muse,.... instead of a UBI being dished out by government, if the government would just let entrepreneurs collect around $100k a year (in personal income, not total recipts) and adjusted for inflation as time goes, before making them pay anykind of income tax, would boost self employed individuals by the millions.
Small business is the incubator of employment. As it declines, so too do opportunities for first jobs, second chances and economic independence.
Not so much worried about the government and a minimum income. But rather what are the people going to do to occupy themselves with no work through out their lives?

The government can buy us all ponies! We could all vote on making it a human right. We could spend our time taking care of our ponies, feeding them and brushing their tails, instead of blowing up other countries.
Anyway, I deserve a pony and the government has lots of money.
