Default Do Kitco provide a web service to get the daily Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium fix?

    Dear Sir or Madam,

By way of introduction I am an I.T. person working for a small jewellery manufacturer based in Birmingham, England.

My question is, do Kitco provide a web service to get the daily Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium fix?

If so where is it and is there a subscription?

If you are not clear on what a web service is see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service. It is likely that all Kitco's mobile apps are using web services.

I have not been able to search your forums to see if this question has been answered elsewhere.

    Yours sincerely,

    Dear fl57caveman,

I think you may have misunderstood me.

A "web service" is a way of computer to computer information exchange using web protocols.

What I want to do is program an application to use a web service to automatically record the daily Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium fix on a company system.

The alternative is having to look up fixes on a web site and enter this data.

Here are some examples of web services for other applications.

    1. www.smsglobal.com/soap-api/

    2. aws.amazon.com

    3. www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx

Sometimes these web services are free and sometimes they are charged for by subscription. I am trying to find out if Kitco provide a web service for this purpose. I can’t find it on the web page you referred me to. I want the daily fixes, not the charts.

My apologies for not being clear.

    Yours sincerely,

To have our 24 hour spot prices on your web page, you can incorporate any of the graphic images from this page (http://www.kitco.com/price/) into your web page(s). You must make the image hotlink to www.kitco.com/connecting.html. We have provided a sample HTML code that will accomplish this but it can be modified on your page as long as the link to "connecting.html" remains.

Kitco also offers free charts available for use on any website. A link to our free charts webpage has been provided for your convenience: http://www.kitconet.com/.

Please note that you must use the html code as displayed; failing to link back to Kitco.com or misuse of our charts to legitimize suspicious or illegal activities constitutes a violation of our terms of use and with result in usage being revoked.

    We hope this information helps!

I'm a beginner IT person, as I need to create a portfolio and make up my experience in web development... I tried surfing sites after sites and found that Kitco provides best live metal rates... I also figured out the data source of the live rates used. But as a web developer, It shall not be a good impression while using live rates images instead of the real-time updating data table.
I wanted to use the data source for my project. Are There Any Issues With That?
