Saudis setting up China with the know how & equipment to better produce oil? That could leave a mark.

China is busy, and also increasing it's speed of change.

And the people in the US are slowed by a constricting money supply, after zero interest policy for years has transferred wealth to the favored few. Coincidentally, our stockpile of munitions has been exported to Ukraine, at our expense, to leave us militarily weaker, as well as economically weaker.

Interesting. Oil jumped to 81$ a barrel. Should be interesting day in trading and rhetoric tomorrow.

Strange, I saw diesel for $3.75 yesterday, the lowest I have seen in a long time. Now I see WTI over $80. Which way will it go tomorrow?

Perhaps they've been promised a big order and want to make the most of it... I think there is chatter of the US resupplying the strategic oil reserves.

In my Navy years, Iran took 52 Americans Hostage - Carter folded up like a nickel kite in a hail storm. (Afghanistan 2021)
Reagan became President and I witnessed the world changing from an Aircraft Carrier.
Never again would I see a Russian vessel in the Indian Ocean or Persian Gulf.

Aircraft Carriers have to almost continuously make water and the Tanker War made the Persian Gulf an oily mess.
We could go in there for maybe a week at a time, but that creates a predictable transit of Strait of Hormuz which is not smart.

Much of the Tanker War was isolated events, limited in scope, and classified so not much was out there for years.
    That's over.

Point is - wars start - and end with oil. Be it Nord Stream or Super Tankers.
    The world hasn't changed much.

Well, with Saudi Arabia and Iran supposedly at peace now (due to Chinese diplomacy), there will no longer be need for such Carriers to help the Arabs move oil in the Persian Gulf. That can make a BIG difference, perhaps the demise of the "petrol dollar", this may be even bigger than the iron curtain coming down. Also, with the Chinese-Russian pact as forced by the incredibly inept Biden administration, construction and improvements of oil routes across Eurasia (instead of overseas) will no doubt be accelerated.
