"Eliminate Dead Zones": Elon Musk Partners With T-Mobile For New Satellite-To-Cell-Service

    https://www.zerohedge.com/technology...e-cell-service

Elon Musk's SpaceX teamed up with T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert to beam cell service via Starlink satellites to "most places in the US," including more than half a million square miles of dead zone areas that aren't covered by cellular networks.

The two companies would create a new mobile network to broadcast T-Mobile's existing mid-band spectrum via Starlink satellites to anywhere in the continental US, Hawaii, parts of Alaska, and Puerto Rico.

SpaceX and T-Mobile wrote in a press release that the new network would "provide near complete coverage in most places in the US — even in many of the most remote locations previously unreachable by traditional cell signals."

Musk tweeted that the new service, launching in 2023, will "eliminate dead zones worldwide."

Starlink V2, launching next year, will transmit direct to mobile phones, eliminating dead zones worldwide

How would a sealed battery become "water logged"??

Because the interchangeable terms of " sealed", as in truly watertight, like bathyscape spheres, is erroneously applied to auto batteries that cannot keep salt water from continuous immersion out. Of course, we all know that companies Never Lie about the capabilities of their products, right?

The actual real world evidence in florida right now proves that Tesla is a liar company. Their touting "waterproof" battery packs flies against the evidence firefighters are experiencing now.

you're a a bit harsh on elon, tesla never claim their EV is water proof.
Also depending which year of production, tesla EV keep improving by the months, not annually like old legacy auto manufacturers.

Tesla can survive floods and wade through deep water impressively. Its doors, windows, hood, and trunk are sealed and prevent water from getting in while driving through the flood. Besides, its battery pack and motor are also well-sealed and encased to stay dry in different situations of water exposure.

However, as we mentioned before, and as Elon Musk himself pointed out, it works only for a short time, and you should avoid long-term exposure of your Tesla to water – no matter what Model it is. Water is powerful in the long term and can corrode metal parts gradually and somehow find its way into the car.

tesla EV will wade through water to get out of a jam unlike ICE vehicle with exhaust.
However, he explicitly recommends avoiding driving your Tesla through deep water – Tesla’s warranty doesn’t cover damages from floods or wading in deep water or long term water exposure

I can say their new structural battery pack look water proof, it's sealed and surrounded by special glue.
If the connections are also sealed then it is possible for tesla EV to resist water damage far better than earlier models. ICE cars is out of the question. Elon plan to have their new cybertruck come with boat mode which help to cross small stream/rivers.

ironically, tesla EV made in china is better than tesla EV made in US.

We made sealed lead acid batteries. But they had a vent at about 10 psi. They were recombinant batteries that would combine the outgassing H and O into water. Not sure of the gaseous exchange inside a lithium battery though. The salt water would corrode up any metal conductor or connection that it contacts. It would ruin any type car, EV or not.

Just plain water is bad enough with all the electronics. My BIL drove though flowing rain flood water in his Subaru SUV and it wiped out the wheel sensors. Had to replace part of the harness too. Quite costly.

I had water up to the front of my hood....was really strange I was going to work on a road I take every day...I was expecting the water level to lower as I went to higher elevation but it kept getting deeper!!! Soon as water hit the top of my hood I said to hell with this im going back.

Was concerned for a few weeks that maybe I would have some water damage, but was none.
