or place a fake next to a real morgan and compare the thickness

The fakes are a little bit thicker compared to a real Morgan. I do not have a good caliper to get the exact thickness. Diameter seems spot on with the fakes. I plan on adding a good caliper into my kit now that I know what I am up against with fakes that are just to real looking.

How does the edge look? The few fakes I've touched all had poor quality reeding.
The edges/reeding are near perfect. About the only thing the eye would catch is some of them have the slighest lip or ridge that looks VERY slightly off, and if your eyes are not great, most folks probably wouldn't pick up on it.

I guess the thing that stuck out to me first is a feeling that the color was off a bit. And it was only because I had 10 coins that I questioned it, as all 10 had the same 'off' color.

its true what we've all warned and been warned about that weight is the key, they would be much too thick if they weighed right.

Is it me, or are the upper nose lines off a bit and eye-brow?

I thought the same thing about that specific area. It's either lighting or there is really something there we both see. I don't know if I can describe it but the eye to nose transition looks different.
