It was 1200. pcgs list is 15 and I think it would probably make XF40 with them, and it has really great eye appeal. I will try to get some better pics sometime as it really is a banger in hand...still has some nice luster around the stars on obverse.

Well you probably won't be finding them in rolls from the bank, but they're pretty reasonable around the G-VG range, of course what defines reasonable is a matter of priorities.

Daniel Boone probably had it in his pocket after selling a bear hide.

Nice and good WOW factor! Thanks for sharing
Thomas Jefferson is credited with writing, “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” The seceding states in the Civil War period issued a similar declaration using the word “tyranny” as opposed to “injustice.”

That's an awesome coin right there. I do love the early silver, too. To own a piece of history like that does make one wonder whose hands it came across. And I don't need to remind anyone what the worth of a "dollar" was back then. It's actually one of the last few "type" coins I need to complete the Type set I've slowly and patiently been adding to a Dansco album (several years now). I'd say that even if you resubmitted it to PCGS or NGC, it'll still get an EF-40 grade, and possibly (but probably not likely an EF-45). You can almost never tell with today's looser grading standards. Either way, congratulations on such a reasonably priced pick up!

sometime i don't understand how grader grade a coin. It seem they place more weighting on the obverse than the reverse or the lowest grade of either sides. Ex. this 1806 half dollar, my inexperience eyes see the reverse as EF45-AU50 and the obverse EF40-EF45
