timeline =?

That would be great for my physical porfolio but my future porfolio growth depended on a price of 1500..

@ 1800 an ounce Id be quiet giddy :o

I'm thinking of picking up some physical platinum as my next purchase. Should I wait and see what happens with these mines that are closed? If they start production again soon the price could pull back a bit but if the closures are prolonged who knows where the price will go the meantime?

im thinking there would be a pullback as she ran very fast..However why take a chance, do some dollar cost averaging that way your in either way..

Thanks gold stacks. I'm dealing in CAD so the run up hasn't been as steep. It's traded between 1305 and 1485 in 2007, with the high in April and the low in August. I guess I've bought before at a price under 1500 CAD, why stop now? ;)

what do you think platinum could get up to in 5 years from now? do you think it could be as high as rhodium?

really depends on how the dollar does. If the next admin can get it back to reasonable levels in 3-5 yrs ( less than 1,25/eur) than it can go lower than today IMO. For me its tough to read next 5 yrs because we are in a commodities market with fundamentals that have never before been encoutered. There are about 8 or so Major variables than can either bring PM's back to 2003-2004 levels, or send them to the moon.

IMO gold and silver are at about the half way point- that is, they can go as high as they can drop. ex, gold can go to $1200 or to $500, Ag can go from $22 or to $9 in 5 yrs or less. The only PM not at the half-way point is palladium. Safe to say of couse that these will go higher before they go lower...

Well, we hit my target of $1800! I expect a second attempt to go one step higher and I will sell 50% of my pt holdings. Hopefully we'll see this new high in the next three weeks.

eagle-eye the GENIUS, great call ! Eagle actually posted months ago that Platinum would hit $ 1,800.oo ? !!

is this a temporary high ? There is NO way of knowing.

is a VERY tempting short opportunity. But then again, how many people tried shorting google at 300 ? then 400, then 500, then 600, then again at 700 ? and finally gave up shorting Google at $ 750 { the top }
Now it's at what - - 500 ?

If I had a trading and platinum 'mentor' I'd love to attempt to short it here or at some point SOON.
I won't do it, but only because I do NOT know anything about Platinum.

I am not a pumper, but I do believe that the basic fundamentals have not changed. Even though there is a blip because of supply concerns, the fact is that they print more fiat every day.

The name of the game is to preserve buying power. Metal is the only thing really doing that. $ means nothing. Metal means everything.

Yeah, but they've been printing money for a long time. When I buy gas or a Big Mac they take paper money...not metal. PM's are a good thing to invest in, but don't get psychotic about them. Cash right now is still king.
