I was just wondering, how come you never hear about margins being raised on other commodities like corn for example?

Don't know - maybe because we aren't into corn? Somewhere there is an agriculture board where someone just asked, "Why is it that you never hear of rising margins on other commodities - like precious metals?" :)

Seriously, has anyone kept stats on how much the margins have been raised in the last 12-18 months?

Historical margins can be found on the CME website (http://www.cmegroup.com/clearing/risk-management/historical-margins.html).

Thanks for the link. If I am reading that right that sure looks like quite the drop for old crops last month? I dont see anything quite like that any where prior. Would you happen to have an explanation for that?

Margin hikes didn't impress goldfreaks for long.
Although they got knocked, the Boys see Gold still as the best bet.

Bernanke was right to leave the moaners a bit on their own luck instead of breastfeeding the lazy bunch. Maybe will put people at work instead of begging....

the most amazing thing is if you check oil you'll find that as it jumps up wildly the margin is changed- LOWER.
