Is there any significance to the fact that the last four recessions are the worst four in terms of returning to normal, and that each one is worse than the last?

Does this graph compare apples to apples vis-a-vis Clinton's rewriting of the labor stats? i.e. U-6?

That 1981 should really be part of 1980, ya gotta have atleast one year between recessions. Now the last four recessions stand out from earlier ones in terms of length.

Actually, that recession started in 1982, not 1981.

Hey Gold Dog (nice pooch you got there!), I believe they are using "adjusted" figures to compile this. Hedonistic adjustments and all are the soup du jour when it comes to formulate key econimic numbers and indicators these days.
