Does anyone know if this is the tightest the gold / platinum ratio has ever been?

The ratio is currently .96!! If it goes to 1, that means gold = platinum in value.

That would seem like a damn good time to buy platinum.

Thanks,

Not an expert on ratios, but if you look at Kitco's charts for gold and Pt back in the 90's it was pretty close to 1:1. Looks like it probably was a little better than 1:1 in '96 or so.

But in answer to the second part, YES, it's a good time to buy Pt! ;)

It's a great time for Ag to with an 80.6 Au/Ag ratio too!

If you go back a little further than the kitco charts, I believe plat touches or dips below 1:1 briefly about every 15 years or so. Afterwards, platinum seems to out pace gold, sometimes explosively.

I would consider physical platinum to be a medium to long term play, but sub $800 prices combined with a sub 90% Au:Pt = a definite accumulation signal.

My opinion, DYDD.
