Societe Generale SA has lowered its 2008 price outlook for palladium due to a possible increase in shipments from Russia, the world's biggest producer of the metal.

Global supply will exceed demand by 935,000 ounces next year, up from a surplus of 691,000 ounces this year, according to the report. Palladium will average $300 an ounce next year, down from a previous forecast of $325, and drop to $275 in 2009.

Palladium futures for March delivery dropped $2.90 to $354.50 an ounce on the NYMEX. Before today, the metal had gained 5.6% this year, averaging about $355.

Great but we really are not in over supply the Russians drop 2 million Oz a year from stockpiles . They count this as mined Pd . Pd is not going under 300 USD Oz ever again and ill bet 1 ounce of silver on it .

great. I can buy more on the cheap. I believe Pd has 3-5 years before it really makes it's move. There's lots of inventory that needs clearing out first.

I take this with less than a grain of salt. I remember the same establishment printing that the ECB would sell another 500 tons of gold . I did not buy gold then a few months later it went up 200 USD Oz . I highly think this just to keep the punters away . Read my post on insider trading . Basically I think this is a bigger cover up than gold . We have 6 billion people on this earth with 1 million extra Oz of Pd to split amongst us . No other metal in the world is this rare above ground that has so many future potentials. Keep it cheap I just ordered another 3 .

seems like Pd is rising not falling. I highly doubt we will ever tradre under 300 USD Oz for Pd in our lifetimes again . Were heading to 1500 and this is the start .

When these big dogs say lower, it means they're buying and they want to keep a lid on it while they lock and load.

I'm glad I came in this forum when I first joined. I really had no intention buying in. Glad I did. Actually 'got physical' finally!

Like I said earlier it seems Pd is rising not falling. Isnt Societte generale the bank that just lost 7 billion. Maybe they are trying to recap loses by printing misinformation. Either way looking at charts we will probably reach 650 USd before we see a major correction. I think we will go down a few dollars but I really think this is the start of a 200 USD rally in the Price Of Pd. Ive been waiting for this to happen. .. Sucks thou cause I need another 25 Oz's but at these prices I may not be able to wait .. Of course I dont have enough funds to finish my postion I truly want.

I'm the guy who bought Pd @ $380 in 2002 based on what I know about the metals fundimentals (GREAT CATALYST for pollution control, cold fusion? who knows but, we can always hope!) I think it is past time for this metal to go "limit up" in trading. On the subject of Societe Generale, it bothers me GREATLY to read that this is a French bank that is close to a equivalent of a USA credit union in that it isn't one of the "old guard" family owned privrate European banks. I think there is more to be told in the takedown of this institution than meets the eye. I don't trust ANYONE in finance right now and that is why I went to PMs starting in 2002.

Platinum sees no tops as of yet. Pd is looking better everyday. Dollar for dollar Pd is still four times cheaper than Pt.

I wonder why Pd has GST tax and gold does not in Canada. Maybe our Pd comes from other than a free trade country. Maybe Canada imports some of the Pd we mint at our mint, so they just tax it all. I clearly can not see why we pay GST on Pd and not on Pt, Au, Ag. Maybe our own Pd is used in our car industry and we mint some of the Pd that russia has been dumping on the market and that is why we pay GST on our Maples. . .

Either way I said this could very easily be a two hundred dollar run up with a few small dips along the way . We went up 100 now we have another 100 to go.

It's taken a few months of head scratching but I purchased my first Pd oz today and after reading the report and following on to bloomberg, boy am I glad I did.

Now, I am no expert, but this reports smacks of scare tactics, like they/somebody is trying to set up a big play and keep the rest of the minodes out.

If there is a drop then I might have purchased my most expensive oz for while because I will be buying more, no question about it. So for the near term this will give me a chance to load up, but I doubt it's going down like they intimate, makes no sense, none at all.

:)

I knew those Societte generala guys were wrong. I stated this same media outlet said IMF would sell alot of gold then it went up two hundred buks in a month..Now Pd has risin over 100 since this post. Like I said I take this with a grain of salt . Glad I ordered like 15 since this post was made . YEE HAA.

But I guess we both will never get to collect. Pd traded at 200 USD in the 80s . Surely it will surpass 1000 USD in no time. How high is unknown but i clearly see 1000 Oz USD before we see 350 USD Oz again thats for sure. Clearly Pd is climbing and it is not going down much.

Please excuse my French, but Societe Generale doesn't know MERD! They lost 7 billion in the blink of an eye, are blaming in on one of their own, and therefore have no credibility in predicting "JACQUE MERD." Again, please excuse my french.

Societe Generale lowers 2008 price outlook for palladium

While they are lowering the outlook for Pd, maybe they can lower the outlook of the losses they will incur in 2008.

Here she comes boys just like Ive always said 2012 is when Pd is going to shine.http://www.miningweekly.co.za/article.php?a_id=126043 Yup just as ive stated before Russia has been dumping Pd from there stockpiles to keep us over supplied. If they did not dump Pd, we would be at 1000 already. Yeehaaa were now officially off to the races. I thought we would see a correction at 550 but it looks like were going straight to 1000 before we stop.. Were going parabolic soon enough I imagine. Or were almost there now.

lol nice thread.

I always sleep in late but I woke up early this morning and bought some SWC (which is still a good bet) and I lost $800 in a day :(

Chimp,

Tell me why you think SWC is a good bet? Don't worry, I don't buy stocks until I've satisfied myself that it's a good idea, but I always appreciate ideas.

I'm bullish on platinum (eventually -- erk!) because of power problems in South Africa, but what I can't seem to determine is, how hedged is SWC?

THanks for your input!

Looks like old nutflush got himself banned after making a number of bets. My bet with him may take several more years to prove out...he bet Pd would hit $1000 before Pt hit $2600. I took the bet for two silver Philharmonics or SAE.

WELCHER!
